You can absolutely pull the rear timing chain off the crank in the 4 and 5 cylinder Atlas engines to "delete" the balance shafts. But do you really want this surface being the cause of your low oil pressure? Our balance shaft delete kits completely removes these destroyed bearings and replaces them with precision machined bushings that actually block off all the oil passages that once oiled the balance shaft bearings. I've rebuilt a ton of these 4 and 5cyl "Atlas" motors and on thing seems true. the 4200 4.2l found in the trailblazers seem to have a much lower failure rate than the 4 and 5cyl cousins. Why is this.......? ? ? ? .......Balance shafts By deleting them you increase felt vibration a little at lower rpm but since the rotating assembly is balanced anyway the motor runs as you'd expect a 5cyl motor or an over square 4cyl would. This the only balance shaft delete kit in the world for these motors and we already have an install running north of 700whp in Nivlac57's Fairmont. Sufficient to say this kit has been tested thoroughly.
